Brewing the Amber Ale component of a Newcastle Brown as per BYO recipe. Old Ale component has been aging for close to three months, so should be ready for blending once the amber ale clears.

Cheers

In between running the kids around to birthday parties and doing some work around the house. I'm aiming to do a Brown Porter (Extract) and Fullers ESB Clone (my first All Grain) all going well.

Hanging out I haven't brewed for a couple of months.

Looks like a big weekend for all those going to burst their All Grain cherries, hope all goes well for everyone.

Happy Birthday Lizzy...!!!

No better way to celebrate her big day than with a good old fashioned brew up.

Interesting Tseay, i often wondered after reading that article if anyone would go down that road instead of cheating with a one off batch. Would be very interested in how it turns out. Did you use the BYO old recipe .??

No real plans yet, but I'm heading by ESB tomorrow sometime, and if all my lack of planning falls into place, I may have my first India Pale Ale in the primary by Monday night.

Just a couple of ND fresh worts for me...thats all time allows at the moment.
Cheers
Steve

unfortunatly no brewing for me this weekend, not beer anyway but possibly 10L of traditional mead if i can fit it unbetween unpacking and fixing the car (why did have to die on me the week i needed it most). also going to dry (wet) run my brewery with water to test out the new HLT and see if there will be any problems that need fixing with it at the new place. then straight back into brewing next weekend 5 weeks of not being able to smell mashing grains has really taken it's toll *sigh*

Kong , I worked up a partial mash equivalent for both components. My Old Ale came out at 6% ABV before lagering so I have beefed up the abv of the amber ale. I also incorporated a small amount of molasses into the Old Ale. I used roasted wheat and not roasted barley- OG was on target but FG was around 1018.
Details are as follows. Not sure how good the recipator software is, but I am about to find out

Had not done a brew since big brew day on the 5th May so last night I brewed a NZ Saaz wheat and today picked up some malt for a NZ Saaz pils.

It's that pils time of year . :beerbang:

What is it with all these Bohemian Pilsners being brewed!!??

I'm brewing an ESB 3Kg czech pilsner on Sunday, just getting the yeast starter together tomorrow morning so I can bung it on in a couple of days.

Nothing flash, can of goop with extra hops for bittering (to 5-10 IBUs...haven't decided yet) and carapils.

BTW does anyone have an idea of the bittering of this can? I made one last year and felt it was about 30, could have used more IMO.

Hopefully brewing this hoppy little number on Monday...

Does the CP stand for Classic Pilsner?

Will be interested to see how it turns out.
