G'day,
I'm David. Mid-forties. Married, 3 kids (16, 8, 6). Work in IT (now that's a joke............). Currently live in Green Point (near Gosford), Though used to live in Woronora (Sydney), Canada, USA, England, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns.
First started HB back in 1984, but, gave it up because the beer was ***** and got sick of cleaning bottles. Took it up again about four years ago after I went to a tasting at the Barber & Brew in Kincumber (Central Coast - NSW). Brewed about 130 batches since (mainly K&K, but, for the past three months have been doing mini-mashes). Currently gearing up to go AG, don't expect to get there till sometime in 2005.
Love me beer.

:chug:

Howdy!

My names Ben, Im 18, and from the northern suburbs of Adelaide (Paralowie)
I finished school in 2002, failed year 12, but got a job at Holdens Manufacturing plant at Eliz. Been there a year and a half, On Afternoons but now back at school!

First visited Grumpys back in about September last year at Hahndorf and was absolutely amazed at the beer they were brewing!!!

Mate of mine had a homebrew kit, Made somewthing that definately wasnt beer, But it had heaps of bubbles lol

Met my Missus in Sep, and spoke to her dad who had been brewing for about 8-10 years, and was amazed!!! Asked him about every question under the sun, Then i borrowed a fermenter and made a Lager up, Nice and simple, k+k at its best, And 60 stubbies were gone in all of a week and a half!!!

since then ive bought my fermenter, Still got the borrowed one for bulk priming lol. Looking into Kegging soon :)

Now ive done 4 brews (one is fermenting now) some i used the pre mixed bags with DME etc, one i used a pack with hops that was boiled (pale ale) and a couple been k+k, had the odd complaint but not from anyone that matters!

I enjoy my lagers, Also a bit of pils now and then, Also love my pale ale's! Not too keen on the heavier, darker beers and stouts.....

Well i wouldnt mind getting in touch with some other Adelaide brewers.... compare a few brews prehaps...

Well Cheers Spanner for starting this 11 page thread lol

Ben

G'Day Ben

I too worked at Holdens in Adelaide ,but a long time ago , at Woodville , not even a Holden plant there now.

Hope you can make it to GMK's in the Barrossa on 18/04/04

Hi All,

My names richie. I live in Hobart and am married with 1 child. I 'work' in the state service and am also a professional sportsman. I'm still brewing with a Goldrush kit purchased in Drummoyne, Sydney in about 1995 :D I gave up for a couple of years because of bottling but have been back at it for a while now. Am slowly getting the pieces together for a keg system (have tap and connection, gas bottle (extinguisher) and free fridge on the way) so I've got a few questions that I'll be asking soon.

cheers

richie :chug:

Welcome Richie

G'day ben sa, richie and hopeye.
good brewing to ya

Hi guys, i've just come over from the grumpys forum, yours looks alot better tho;-) hope to learn alot and contribute where my limited knowledge allows.

cheers!

well i've been here for 2 months and it looks like i'm staying.... so it's about time i introduced myself.

My name is brenton, 27, married for 1 year now, living in Eastern Subs of Melbourne. Grew up in Grange in Adelaide, then Perth for 5 years, now Melb for past 10.

I'm in sales, industrial instrumentation specialising in infrared thermal imaging equipment, pH measurement, Dissolved Oxygen, Hazardous gases etc... all of which i've found some kind of use for in my brewing... and hence the attraction to such a sport.

And to me, this craft is really like a sport... and lot of training and hard work goes into creating a better brew each time.

In 2 months since i started with a home brew kit from the wife for christmas, i've made 6 K+K, while doubling my original equipment count, turning the garage into a full time brewhouse, adding fridges, desks and frames that are developing into 3 tiered systems!!

Experimenting each time with hops and crystal malt and made some pretty fantastic beer already. My first 2 lagers are in the fridge as we speak.

My favourite beers in order are:
Coopers Sparkling Ale
Cascade Premium Lager
Stella Artois
Cascade Pale Ale

In the past few weeks i've worked tirelessly on my all grain system and hope to be up and running in a couple of months, so i can start do to some "real" beer making.

the quality of this forum is excellent, i know a lot of you post on grumpy's but this site has a "friendlier" feel, most of the time!! ;) and it is good when everyone feels that the environment is "comfortable" enough to add their 2 cents worth... that's when we all get something out of it.

cheers to you all

i dont ignore grumpys, im here to learn, and im there to learn also

I guess i should drop in some personal info as well

I'm 27, divorced and about to be remarried in november, live in adelaide and work for a large computer company as a technical services manager.

I spose i should introduce myself,
My name is Simon, I live in Port Douglas, FNQ.
I have been browsing the brew forums since about early 2003, very occasionally starting or adding to a post. I have been brewing on and off for around 12 years
but have really started to move along thanks to these forums.
I am on the way to AG, but have put the project on hold because I am moving back to South Aust in a few months. Up here it is very hard to get grain and bulk hops, and freight is a killer, as some of you guys well know... yes you Batz + Big D
  !!!
Hopefully when I move back south I will have a chance to catch with the southerners for a taste - a - thon.
Anyway, once again nice to know you all, and thanks for all the advice.
;)
