I have often heard tell of the hard time us brewers can get from our Mrs's (?) and family

I felt that it is important that i pay tribute to mine.

Sure, she thinks i have been drinking a little more since i have been brewing my own beer.

Sure, she thinks I am crazy....obsessed......etc

But many is the time she has sat and bottled my beers while I capped.

I can still see her in my minds eye, sitting in front of my brewery last year, 8 & 1/2 months pregnant, passing me the filled bottles.

She also keeps an eye out for the bargain brews.

One last thing.
My daughter asked Santa if he could give Dad a faster brewing kit.
That made me laugh.

She also left Santa one of my brews and informed him in her letter that "Dad made it".
Santa certainly loved the brew she left out for him. He said on his reply letter that it was the best beer he'd vere tasted....and between you and me Im pretty sure he helped himself to a few more from the fridge.

Heres to the tolerant families of brewers. May they continue to understand the passion!

YES, well said ATOMT. Some partners can see what an important mission we are on. I am fortunate as well that my wife is one of those.
Cheers 15BL

She helps you bottle?

Bloody hell.

Mate....she feels embarrassed and apologetic if shes feeling too tired to help. I have to tell her "Dont worry....I'll be fine" Guess that one of the reasons I love her!

Indeed, well said ATOMT, very well said.

You sooooooo have to love small people.

Thanks for the post.

What a great post Doc. Good on ya - I love hearing stories like this.

(Off topic, but does your wife have any sisters? My imaginary wife has given me nothing but grief lately or maybe it's just me?)

Seriously, nice to read the above.

My missus is a recognised BJCP beer judge!!!!

Seven Actually!

Credit must go out! :)

Mine . . .

Cleans most of the bottles . . .
Helps bottling . . .
Comes up with ideas for various styles I might want to brew . . .
Sometimes she refers to 'the next beer WE should brew' . . .
Looks out for beer related books and webpages . . .
Doesn't moan (much) when she sees the state of the kitchen floor after brewing . . .

And last, more than anything else, she certainly helps with drinking the beer! :chug:

I know. I'm senselessly lucky.

To receive the above, I only have to:

Cook dinner every night . . .
Cook breakfast every morning - including getting her a cup of tea and bringing it to the bedroom . . .

Do the dishes . . .
Give her unlimited backrubs . . .
Get lunch for her . . .

And seeing as it's 3:30am here in Denmark now, I just have to wake her up from her snooze on the chair next to me and carry her up to bed. :D

Nah, she's wonderful. We just help eachother with most things and she is very skilled at pretending she's just as interested in brewing as I am.

Cheers,

Jens-Kristian

yes, that's all very wonderfull.
backrubs and kiddies.
ahem.

. . . . And she doesn't want kiddies. B)

Not yet, anyway.

I'm dreading the day.

Cheers,

Jens-Kristian

I do indeed. Part of the reason for that is that my better half is Australian (from Melbourne) and we are planning on relocating to Australia at some point. I thought I might as well start getting in on the homebrewing culture in Australia now. :)

And yeah . . . like second cousins, three crowns removed or something . . .

I'm still a relative novice with homebrewing. I've done three AG batches so far (I decided just to jump in at the deep end and do AG from the beginning). The first two batches were done at the same time. One was an English Pale Ale, which turned out quite good considering that I put together the recipe for it myself. I just had one of the last bottles of it yesterday actually and it is quite yummy although a little . . . well, you can taste it's my first. A little unrefined. The other batch I did at that time was an attempt at recreating an ale from a 13th century English recipe. That means no hops! It turned out pretty well, but because it was without the conserving qualities of the hops it needed to be drunk within the first week. Mission accomplished!

My latest one was a strong Belgian Red Ale, which I think turned out just wonderfully. Much more on target for what I wanted it to be and it is one I will definitely be brewing again! I put together the recipe for that one myself, too as it's the process, experimenting and all that which really has my interest.

Favourite brew . . . Oh dear! She Who Must Be Obeyed and myself have tried about 160 different beers since January last year and there have been some absolutely beautiful ones among them. I'm a sucker for ales in general though and it's more often than not an ale that we go for. I love a few from a Scottish brewery called Belhaven. I also have a weakness for Belgian Triples, my favourite of which must be Tripel Karmeliet.

OK, I'll shut up now. Beer makes me talk too much!

Cheers,

Jens-Kristian
