HI guys,

Just completeing my AG gear and I just purchased some hose for the plumbing. The Hose I got is Nylex Drinking Water hose and its a light blue and it reinforced. My Q is this going to be Ok for hot wort or has anyone had problems or off flavours with this? The website says its food grade so I'm presuming it should be fine..

I'm also using SS barbed hose tails from the taps and I've seen a few people use them without any ring clamps as they are quite tight when you slip them on. Do yo think that they would leak if using a pump and just slipped on?

Thanks
Matt

I have used that for a while with no problems, you can also get a Nylex white braided hose that is rated to 85c I now use this, because it looks prettier than the blue  ., I had no problems with the blue one.

Cheers
Andrew

Thanks Andrew, The Blue dosent look that cool I must agree..

Matt

Unless i am mistaken - the blue - which i use is rated to 80C - while the white is rated to 85C.

I also buy some a 12mm Nylex Garden snap on male fittings with a barb.
That way all the parts of my system _HLT, Mash Tun, Bioler, Pump etc have males and i make up a couple of female to female different length hoses and i can snap everything together.

Works really well.

Thanks Kenny,

What type of the garden snap locks ( color ) and do you get any taste from the plastic and I'm presuming you use a pump with them and have no problem??
I've just shelled out on ss barbed hose tails for the boiler and Mash tun...spewing if I could use plastic..

I am using brass hose connectors nice and easy to clean all i ever did was pickle the brass once but the last 2 connections I got I did not pickle never tasted any differnce
