A complete tight arse here. I got some mechanical ones from KMart last week. They only do up to 500g in 5g increments, but who cares for $5.

Not suitable for hop additions but

my scales are "master class" brand. i got them from bigw.

What do they measure up to, and how smaller increments, price ect?

2kg capacity with 1g resolution. they cost me around $20 or 25.

Mine are 5kg with 1g digital resolution which makes them handy for wieghing out grain as well as hops. I originally got them for wieghing balsa wood components for model planes so desired weight and balance can be achieved.

Although only 1g resolution they are still pretty accurate as I have doubled checked my hop additions (to the nearest gram) on a few recipe's on the scales in the quality lab at work. They are calibrated annually and have a resulution of 0.001g

As long as I stick to 5g amounts i should be okay... Well, I can always try them once.

I'm pretty sure with 5g res, if you say want to way 20g of hops, then when it reads 20 it could be anywhere from 17.5g to 22.5g, not good I say

for the record I got a couple from This seller (winning an auction, not BIN)
some hops scales 100g x 0.01g and some kitchen scales 5kg x 1g bought seperately some months apart I got both for about 25 each incl. delivery....can't remember exact prices, the kitchen scales may have been closer to $30

This may have allready been mentioned but the cheapest scales are available at pipe and bong shops (Im not that way inclined). I got the deluxe bag scales for $2.50 and they work a treat. You can also get more accurate 'professional powder dealer' scales also.
