Don't all jump up and down getting excited. I'm just saying he can taste it and if it's bad then ditch it. If not then he won't have too.... A taste won't kill. Also I don't think there was a mention of an infection in his brew, just a hiss when opening the tin. As I and Mikeyr pointed out there could be many reasons a tin bulges. Some maybe bad, but some maybe not (ie when heated and small amounts of gas trapped in the syrup when undergoing canning expand). All I'm saying is Mr Brewer should test it rather than jump to conclusions. Even if the malt syrup is beyond its best won't mean his equipment will become infected and have to be nuked and put under ground in outback South Australia with the other nuclear waste. Personally I have had a tin hiss when opening (after heating of course) and it tasted like all the other cans I have had. Admittedly it wasn't bulging, so maybe Mr Brewers is off after all. He'll be the only one to be able to fill us in on that one.

Mr Brewer let us know how it smells/tastes. I assume you didn't taste your original hydrometer reading sample otherwise you would have piped up by now agreeing or disagreeing about it's purported awfulness.
