As you can see in the attached photographs there is a sliver section to the back of the burn now this clamps over a large hole but the seal is not great. Has anyone had problems with it leaking from this point
And could people let me know what Regs they use have been to a few BBQ stores today looking for Med Regs as this is what I think I read to use but no one has them
Any help would be great

It's not meant to seal, that's the section where you moderate the air intake to produce a better flame at the burner end.

Gas won't leak out of there, and if you close it off you'll choke the flame.

On my Italian spiral with HP the that slide is about half open.

Dude, that silver sleve is meant to slide. You use it to adjust the air/gas mix, ie to get the gas burning most efficiently.

We did that on a mates italian spiral burner - it made a huge difference to the intensity of the flame - so much so it blew a chunk out of the concrete we had the burner sitting on! Because of that, my mate now sits his burner on a couple of hebel blocks.

Grab yourself a medium pressure ADJUSTABLE reg to get the most out of this burner including simple control. you can get em from Beerbelly (site sponsor) or specialist gas places like Gameco.

Beers

Crozdog

Thanks guys
I might have to order the regs then when to a few BBQ stores and camping stores and asked for adjustable medium regs and no one had heard of them before

my advice is to stop looking at stores. I never had any luck. Just go for the beer belly one. It's awsome!

You could try BBQs galore , thats where I got a med pressure reg from. The guy told me they were only meant for spiral type burners not for BBQs , works great.
Took me a while to work out that the plate at the rear was meant as the oxygen regulator , many months of a pissy orange flame that didn't do much then I found AHB.

I love my Italian spiral from a site sponsor. Never had a problem other than paint peeling on the first few uses and landing in my kettle.

Haha, that happened to me too!

Nice. Good to see I'm not he only one who didn't do a burn off first :icon_cheers:

It works fine with a BBQ regulator - i have had one of these style burners ( aGasmate camping cooker ) for about 3 years now, and it boils up to 30L fine. A medium pressure reg would work better though as it would give out more than the 20MJ its rated with a BBQ regulator.

A tip when you are learning to use it is to close the sleeve and leave it slightly open on the side facing AWAY from you, light it and then open the sleeve - sometimes the gas in the pipe section can blowback and burn the hairs on your wrist. Hasn't happened to me in ages though, must be getting the knack of it.

Can hijack the thread and ask who has actually needed to adjust theirs? I have just kept mine as-is because it produced a good result out of the box. Should I be tweaking it? Regardless, I guess I will now. One brewing variable unlocked.

Yup - adjust it open until you see no more solid orange at the tips of the flames- if there is no orange then no need
