Hi,
Been using an old water bed heater to keep fermentation temps right in this cold Melbourne weather. However tonight i managed to snap the temperature probe clean off. Don't think this is an easy fix from what i've read. So i was thinking, would something like this be any good as a replacement?

Don't really like the idea of the common heat mats as they stay on no matter what the temp, which is pretty much what the water bed heater is doing now.
Have checked out the controllers at Grain and Grape but $120 is a little more than i'm willing to folk out.
Any ideas?
