I plug in my keg king 2200w element in the HLT and buzz crackle pop....
On the day I decided to do a double batch!
So I'm down to using my kettle to heat water with buckets to store water in whilst I sparge. Anyone got any better ideas?
It's a 3 tier system so I can't pump (don't have one)back up to the HLT.

I'm pretty lucky in that if I were in the same situation I'd just nip off down the road to LHBS and buy a replacement element (yes, even on a Sunday.)

You can't delay your brew day until you have a replacement?

I don't have time during the week, plus I already had milled the grain and have a cracking starter on the stir plate. One of the wonders of living in perth is nothing useful is open on Sunday.

Actually, I'm in Perth too :) TWOC in Bibra Lake is open on Sundays.

Really. Wow I'll remember that - still would be a large mission down there.

Gas bottle I've had that one, keep a spare now.

Where are you mate? You can borrow my over the side element if your not far from Swan Valley.

Not too far from the swan, thanks heaps for the offer, but I've managed to get my 62 litres into the kettle, plain sailing from here. :)

Seems to be a very common occurrence.

If I were you I'd replace it with one of these if you can get a socket welded in

Or if you want to stick with weldless, get one of these (yes I know it's from a distilling supplier, naughty me)
http://www.5stardistilling.net/weldless-2400w-element/
You'll need a sparky to wire it and you'll need to add an enclosure to it
This version comes with an enclosure, but still needs wiring
