Should give you a fairly good idea of what the hops taste like anyway! :p

T.D. My favourite summer ales in the Uk have massive hop hits - hopefully this will come close... :)

cheers Ross

I just brewed an American style golden ale on the weekend. I aimed for around 28 IBU's.

I got one (roughly to style) conditioning ATM. :beerbang:

Finally got to hook into this brew last night and I'm extremely happy with the results. Perfect timing for the up coming warm weather, this is gonna be a summer hit.

Yeah I've got a partial golden ale that I've had a few of now, beautiful refreshing taste.

These partials are great.... If allgrain is as much an improvement on kits as partials are well... I can see what people were talking about!

I made a Golden Ale about 6 months ago, just off the top of my head it had Marris Otter pale malt, Weiner Malz, Wheat Malt, and Munchen Malz, bitter with Cascade and then Saaz B and Cascade in the whirlpool, a bit of CaSO4 in the Grist, Liquor and Kettle for a dry mouth feel and Ph correction, was pretty happy with it, but the Wyeast that I choose was a bit to fruity and overpowered the subtle balance that I was looking for, but I will change that next time I brew it, I was very happy with the colour but, a real nice golden glow.

Just done a 40 litre batch of this:-

4.5Kgs JW Pale
4kgs JW Pilsner
1kg JW Dark Munich
1Kgs Wheat
0.04 Choc

Absolutely great colour!
Bittered to approx. IBU 30 with Magnum and Perle and Amerillo all the way for flavour and aroma 45gs each add, oh yeh 30g perle for flavour as well for good measure, for a 40 litre batch. Should I hope be a hoppy little number (tut tut is that you skippy?)

US56 and all good, bubbling away already within the hour.

Yep, eclectic indeed. Sort of a WTF? run amok type of beer. :beerbang:

Worked out nicely BL... Being a split batch it's like 2 different beers. The US56 half is very hallertau-centric with a spicy nose and lemony overtones and a clean, dry malt body.

The Wyeast 1272 half is very much nutty, fruity, little more malty and showing overtones of the the late Willamette addition and not much Hallertau. Must be an American yeast/hops thing.

Both great examples of a Summer Ale Style. The Marris Otter backbone certainly helps. :)
