Hi lads,

New to brewing and this is about my 4th brew. I tried a Premium Stella Artois. I have added a few posts about this brew already. I have had it bottled since the 12th of July and I have just got home from a few weeks away with work. I held it up to the light and it has heaps of shit floating in it and a oil slick like substance on the top. I have it cooling down in the freezer so I can give it a try in a few hours, but would like to know some peoples thoughts on if it will still be ok.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys.

I predict vinegar! Sounds very much like an infection, unfortunately... your cleaning/sanitation may nto be up to scratch.

Yep, I've had an oil-slick beer once myself. I'd bet the farm that Adamt is right.

if you left your bottles wet with starsan before filling this may be the reason for the 'oil slick'. Not so much an infection but the foam just doesn't want to dissipate.

Nah. It was a ginger beer with lemon juice and the ginger was stripped away leaving only a lemon flavoured infection vinaigrette.

Cheers lads. Adamt was right. It was poison and I have wrote it off and down the drain it will go this morning. Thanks for the advice lads.
