Hi all,

Just about getting ready to start my first BIAB. Went to a LHBS and discussed an beginner friendly recipe with the bloke at the store.
I'm interested in making a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale-esque beer and this is the recipe I've put together with what the bloke suggested. His instructions were a little on the hazy side, unfortunately. ;)

Anyway, here's what I have put together with what I've purchased.

What do you guys think? I know the beer is a pretty hoppy one, so I've adjusted the hops accordingly to not use the entire pack.

First time setting up BeerSmith as well, so if I've obviously set something up incorrect, lemme know.

Cheers!

One I did out of the Byo magazine.

Wow, 75g of Cascade at flame out?! That is way too much IMO, I'd go with about 20 or 30 personally.

With an IBU of about 37 and an OG of 1.051, the beer wouldn't be too bitter, I'd prefer in the 40s myself or even a little higher, so the early additions will probably be fine (although I've never used either of these hops myself). The 0 minute addition is way over the top though for my liking.

The main mash at nearly 69 degrees is going to give you a very dextrinous wort and lower alcohol - that is a method that you can use to brew full flavoured but low alcohol UK Milds. For your brew I'd personally go for 65 degrees. Looks good but as wbosher says the 75g at flame out is a bit OTT. Brewing software will try to tell you that flameout additions don't give you bitterness, however try putting a few hop pellets in half a cup of boiling water then let it cool and take a sip
