Hi All,
Wish to do my first AG this weekend.
Going with BIAB method as have the gear to do so and like the KISS format.
Have the 19lt. BigW stainless stockpot, no chill cube, grain bag etc. and rearing to go!
Just hope the inefficient electric stove top will handle the boil
Will be putting a mail order in with a sponsor above as no REAL LHBS here.

My request please is that I need some recipes to peruse, that are suitable for BIAB methods and quantities.
I am an avid GUINNESS DRAUGHT consumer, or was.........
Have done a couple of K&K, kits & bits, a partial (I think that's what you call it?) and the taste/flavours are great.
Makes Guinness taste like water, but I am lacking the smooth, silky, creaminess of the Guinness.

That said, can someone(s) put some recipe ideas forward or point me in the right direction to find them so I may achieve a
pleasant result for my adventure.
Thanks in advance,
Cheers.

This is one of mine that I've brewed many times. It's sweeter and stronger than guiness as it's a cream stout but you could easily drop the milk sugar and add in some toasted oats for creamy mouthfeel (say 500g toasted till golden brown in the oven and mashed with the base malt) or just drop the milk sugar and up the bittering a touch for a dry style stout.

I'm also a big fan of this one and it has received good feedback from others who've tried it:

http://www.aussiehomebrewer.com/forum//ind...&recipe=997. Very nice smooth porter, the base of which works with various English yeasts (original was 1099 but I have used at least 3 or 4 different yeasts and all work well). Most recent batch was boiled for longer and is stronger and darker - more in line with a stout with a hint of treacle at the finish but still ruby highlights in the light.

I can also recommend Screwy's choc treacle stout from the recipe database - much richer than guiness and all the better for it.

I got this googling "guinness draft clone recipe" - you can get a lot of clones recipes by googling the beer name and then clone recipe. Bloody Yanks and their pounds!

To get the creaminess, try halving your carbonation and serving with a pocket sparkler - basically pour a glass of stout, minimising head, suck a ml of beer out of your glass with a 10ml syringe, suck in a few ml of air, and then squirt it into your glass.

Flaked barley gives the creaminess of Guinness, that and a nitrogen/CO2 mix.

Lower carbonation is a must for stouts, i cant think of much worse than a spritzy pint of the black stuff.
