Finings

just picked up my kit and got a 5g pack of finings with it.

To the best of my recollection, you just add the finings after you have racked to your secondary fermenter. They are supposed to give you a clearer beer. I used to add them to a small amount of water & heat up (not boil) until all the crystals had dissolved, added them to the secondary, & then gave the whole thing a good stir.
