I'm about to bottle an oatmeal stout (not a lot of oatmeal) with an FG of 1.017 and just seeking comments from anyone who's done something similar:
  • 5kg base malt
  • .6kg flaked oats
  • .6kg roasted barley
  • Mashed at 67C
  • 22.5 litres
  • Irish Ale yeast 1084 fermented at 18C
  • OG 1.058
Working on the ballpark rule-of-thumb of the FG being around 25% of the OG, I'm fairly happy to go ahead and bottle, as the FG's been steady for three days now, but happy to hear from anyone who's brewed something similar, with the same yeast, to compare this FG with.

Cheers

Curiously you've made me compare with my Red Ale I brewed with Whitelabs WLP004 Irish Ale. That claims a slightly lower Attenuation but I got 80%. I made the main Sacc step at 63c. Then a shorter step at 69c.
OG = 1.061. FG = 1.012.

67 deg and a lot of roast doesn't scream unfinished to me but as always when bottling, I recommend caution. Fast ferment tests are your friend when in doubt.
