If you have a sparky mate, you can use a standard light switch dimmer and a bit of ingenuity, plug yur heater belt into that and then simply 'dim' the temp to where you want.
 
I noticed yesterday that the airlock has a good chance of taking in air as i opened the door in the laundry, which suggests to me some kind of pressure change in the room. I might keep the fermenter out of there in future.

I'll also give the bucket style airlock a go too. That dimmer idea with a brew belt sounds interesting, I may have to tee that up for winter... or maybe now, considering the rain we're having. Is this summer? :huh:

@Chris Taylor: if you don't use airlocks now, what DO you use?
