I do the rinse after drinking, followed by a little idophor in each bottle on brew day.
My father, who was a kit and kilo of sugar brewer for years and years, used to bottle in glass, but eventually got too lazy and:
- only bottled in PET
- after use, rinsed, then put upside down through holes he'd cut in the bottom of a polystyrene box on top of the fridge.
- on brew day, get the box down from on top of the fridge, put a teaspoon of sugar in each bottle, fill with beer.
The only sanitiser he used was boiling water, and I don't remember any infections.
