Mine arrived this afternoon, I just fitted it in place of the KK one, I didn't like how tight I had to screw it in so I used a jointing compound, it's gas tight now, there certainly doesn't appear to be the need for an adapter of any sort.

Yes you can get away with it, and it isn't as though we are talking very much pressure, but for me with a mechanical engineering back ground it has to be done right.
I am not saying don't, just shouldn't.
