Been looking to try a FWK for a while, and as I love the Obama IPA from Bacchus, I took the plunge and bought one on Saturday. I also bought 90gm of Amarillo pellets to dry hop with, and pitched with two packs of the dry yeast as suggested/supplied by Craftbrewer.

It's been fermenting for about two days now, and will be my first attempt a dry hopping.

My questions are;
(1) when to dry hop - once fermentation is finished or just before
(2) should I cold crash in FV for 24 hours before dry hopping
(3) just drop the pellets in FV loose, or put in a sanitised hop sock (will be put straight into keg from FV)
(4) how long to dry hop for

Love this beer on tap at Bacchus, and hoping to get as close as possible.

Cheers.

I will try to help you out, many people have their own way to do it so I will hightlight some for you

1. Just before or once done.

2. Cold crash a few days after dry hopping.

3. I like dropping them in loose and then cold crash but I have also used a hop sock tied up tightish and many will also add stainless weight but not necessary.

4. Somewhere between 3 and 10 days cold crash inclusive. Below 7 days for Galaxy.

That is how I would guide someone but others may have a different opinion. Try dry hopping about 1g a litre to start with. good luck

As above however I'll add a comment to #1. If you dry hop just prior to FG, any oxygen you have reintroduced will in theory be used up by the yeast whilst they are still active. I have however dry hopped after FG with success however I think that carries extra risks.

Edit: If you are a bottle carber, you would be fine though.
