Hi all , been thinking that I would like to start bartering beer, most likely lager. As that is what the brother in law likes, Counter pressure fillers on ebay has caught my eye, has anyone got u and using them? R they easy as they look? Any gremlins? Do u go thru a lot of gas? Cheers .

I've used them all, IMO counter pressure fillers and more hassle than they are worth.

Batz

which one in particular. ive got a standard one and a pet one. the pet one gets more use but its on the keg fridge. the other ones a pita

The PET ones are very handy for use when cleaning your beer lines.

I fill a PET bottle with water/sanitiser, fit the counter pressure filler cap, clip on the liquid quick disconnect, open the tap and squeeze the bottle to flush the lines.

Works a treat.

Also okay for their intended use.

I'm keen to get one of these too, I want to mount it on the font though

Also unsure of which one to get?

Would be awesome to just fill a couple of bottles straight from the keg when I go out

If you do a search of " easy ( poor man's ) cpbf " you will find my method of filling pet bottles.
If you have kegs you definitely should have a carbonation cap or two.
You can fill up any size bottle you like and purge as much as you want ie. if you are drinking it that night just pressure up and fill, and if its going to be in the bottle for longer just give it a longer purge to clear the oxygen.

image.jpgis this the slow one matey. This is the one I was thinking of. Or should I not bother

Will be following this. I have been thinking about getting a CPBF for a while now.
Being a kegger, I typically don't bother with bottles, but it would be nice to occasionally take a few when going somewhere

I brought one of the PET ones. It was awsome as I found it difficult to drive the tractor wath a pint glass. However it only lasted 1 - 2 years and started to leak beer and gas. If you are happy to change it out once a year alls good. Mine was fitted to the front of the fridge next to the taps. There is a long thread here somewhere about them, I also found a way to fit a washer to it so you can fill stubbies ( details in the thread). Seach some more as it has all the info.
Cheers

That's rockn thanks for the link. So go the pet one is sound but needs new seals once a yr. what about the stick stubby filler

my pet one is over two years old no seals changed yet.
as for my other one ive changed lines on it but not seals

KK counter pressure caps are the bomb, of course, you need one for each bottle but they fit 2 Lt soft drink bottles...

ed: to add >LINK< to the discussion about them

No affiliation yada yada

I forgot about those KK ones, that's the way I'll go I reckon

If you only want to fill bottles to take out with you and drink that day/night, this works well.
Its a $3.95 KK picnic tap with some stiff beer line shoved up the spout, about a metre of 6mm tubing and a beer disconnect. Fill the bottles right up and cap on the foam. I use something similar when filling a growler.
You keep the stopper pushed in firmly to the bottle to counter pressure fill, when flow slows down, loosen off a bit and the flow starts again. No foaming.
I wouldn't use this method for storing filled bottles but it works ok for take aways.

I have a counter pressure cap. Once the bottle is filled I just let it rest for a couple of minutes and then swap the counter pressure cap for a standard cap. This then frees up the counter pressure cap to be used again.

A bit of a pain, but better than buying a dozen of them.

I just shove beer line up the tap, enough length to reach bottom of bottle.

Fill nice and slow, into a chilled bottle if I remember. No problems on a 5 day trip. Even accidentally brought one back - after being jostled around in the car, still no issues.
