Dont worry about the inside provided it's not blocked. I would simply use a green scrubbie & some warm water to clean off visible dirt grime etc. Don't worry about any discolouring issues as long as it is clean of visible dirt you will be fine. I ocassionally soak mine in a warm solution of PBW to get the bling factor but that's just me.

PBW is available from all good brewing shops & a couple of bad ones as well!

Cheers

star-san is a sanitiser...
For mine , i'd be using some pbw or failing that , some napisan and a good 24 hour soak...
Give it a rinse and re-peat , if you need too....
Some steel wool may also help the process....
You want it clean before you put in in your hot wort.....
Nothing as good as free brew gear !

how about some CLR or soak in hot water with 3 or 4 lemons..leave overnight we clean the kettles at work this way..

Yes it is but have you tried on copper yet

it's acid based. If you don't want to waste expensive starsan, try vinegar or mix up some citric acid...

A litre of vinegar in a bucket of hot water followed by a wipe and a rinse gets mine clean. Once left it to soak too long (2 days) and the solder joints got green and crusty.

citric acid powder from woollies cooking section
in a bucket of how water will bring it up nice

then bleach etc to sanitize

then boil it....
