Hey Everyone,
I'm new to homebrewing and I'm about to do my second batch. I was just wondering if I would get decent (drinkable haha) results using the following recipe:

1.7kg Coopers Pale Ale can
1kg Coopers Brew Enhancer 2
500g Light Dry Malt Extract
20g Cascade Hops (leftovers from first brew)
Safale US-05 Yeast

Any advice would be great for the hops (boiling hops vs. dry hop, etc.) and I've noticed some other recipes I've read have used less (750g) brew enhancer when using LDME.

Thanks!

Assuming you will be doing a 22-23L batch that would be a good beer as long as you have temp control and keep it around the 18-20C mark. You could reduce the BE or the DME if you want to get the alc. content down- off the top of my head you would be looking at around about 5.5% with those fermentables in 22L but up to you.

I would dry hop with the Cascade at about day 5.

Yeah, I didn't think it'd be worth boiling such a small amount of hops.
Thanks for the quick reply Droopy!

My preference would be to boil the DME in about 3l of water. One it's come to boil, throw the hops in and boil for 10 mins. When the time's up, remove the hops and tip it all in the fermenter. Top up to 23l and cool once it's at the 18°C mark. This will give you some stronger flavour from the cascade.

Yeh definitely boil the hops for 5-10 mins to get the most of what little you have, it'll just boost the fruity aroma and flavour a little. I dry hopped 45g of Citra in my last brew, a basic coopers Au Pale, it doesn't even show up in smell or taste. I did a brew yesterday where I boiled 75g each of chinook and centennial, from 60m to a 5m steep, I am a hop head though!!!

If I was in this situation, I would do as others suggested and do a short boil with the cascade you have. Then get some more hops for dry hop.
My personal favourite combination for Coopers APA is Cascade and Amarillo.

Funny you mention that N3MI, my first brew was exactly that (recipe)
I was just hoping to use the leftovers, looks like i'll be doing a 10 minute boil.
Thanks for all your input!
