When ever we have a BBQ I make a mushroom and beer gravy,

melt a tablespoon of butter in a saucepan, half fill the pot with sliced mushrooms, I like the big field mushrooms as they have alot more flavour, sautee for about 3 min on a low heat add salt and pepper to taste. Open your favourite beer and pour 1/2 a stubbie over the mushrooms ( not stout it ends up too bitter) simmer for about 5 min. mix 2 tbls of gravox ( or any other gravy mix) with 1/2 cup of water and slowly pour into mushroom mix will stirring quickly until thickened. Ladel heaps over your steak.

I've tried Beer Can BBQ Chook with Melbourne Bitter and it was quite good - probably better with a real beer though.

Real brewers do beercan turkeys using craftbrewed beer. You need a bigger can and a longer cooking time but it works the same with good results.
