ive just got my greasy little mitts on a conicle fermenter and though havin a read different articles am unsure on a couple of things......firstly do i need to vent the vessel during fermentation in the first 7 days and also for secondary fermentation purposes can i just cask condition instead of leaving in the flask????? :drinks: also between mashing im i better off not letting air spoil the batch by transferring it via tubing etc any help would be good thanks

Venting I presume you mean dumping yeast/trub from the bottom - no you don't need to do it in the first 7 days.
Once fermentation is over you can dump the yeast and essentially you can condition the beer in your conical. One of the nice things about them. Or you can transfer to another vessel if you want (which free's up your conical to brew more beer).

Note sure what you mean about your last question - but the rule is keep your beer away from oxygen after fermentation.

If you don't have an airlock - you can get away with just a bit of gladwrap over the hole - if its a conical then I'm presuming the hole is small so even putting a glass on it upside down will do the trick.. keeps the flies/dust/microbes from getting in.
