My lady and I are hoping to go away in mid may for a weekend to celebrate 15 years together.

Looking for recommendations for accommodation.

Musts:

1. Able to get within coo-ee using the V-Line system
2. Can't cost the earth
3. near the beach
4. Good beach

Preferred:

1. Old style hotel or something with some charm
2. Open fireplace somewhere in the establishment
3. Good food nearby
4. Good beer nearby
5.Good fish and chip shop nearby

Cheers for any advice

Warrnambool ticks off everything on that list.
I'll ask my Fam for good oldie stylie, fireplacey type accom recommendations

Agree with Breakbeer. If restricted to train then Warnambool beats Binsdale. Coach offers a few more choices and Apollo Bay is one of my faves but I doubt you'll find a wide selection of beer or fairly priced food very easily. But I haven't been that way for a while so may have changed.

Thanks for the recommendations.

If anyone has any more I welcome them but Queenscliff looks like a real goer at the moment.

Warnambool is lovely but my partener went to uni and lived there for several years and we are looking at somewhere we haven't spent much time in. Last tiime I was in Queenscliff, I was about 9.

Although I haven't been on this http://www.thebluestrain.com.au/ - It looks pretty good if you like blues music. Always has some top artists playing. Mind you, probably not what you are thinking of for "nice" weekend away with your partner.
Cheers

If you keep going past warnambool to Portland you will find most of your criteria. Just not to sure about good beers though. A really town steeped with history and the coast line is amazing! After all it's Victorias birthplace.
