So... an old family friend dug out a 50L CUB type keg from his garage. Looks in good condition and I'd love to use it for homebrewing. I originally thought I'd cut it open and turn it into a kettle but decided that it was worth giving it a clean and seeing if I could put brews in it.

How do you clean these suckers? Pressurized water and sani solution or some other way? Any advice is welcome.

Cheers

You obviously require a coupler, but invert the keg and pump cleaning solution through the spear and let it return through the gas (provided no non-return valve).
Alkaline wash, rinse, acid, purge with CO2.

Ok, that sounds pretty straight forward. I've seen couplers online and I'm sure my LHBS will sell acid and alkaline wash. If not will a general sanitizing solution work, or pink stain remover?

I had one that had sat with about 5 liters of sludge in for a couple of years. A good soak with nappysan sorted it out
