I just received my wyeast cider, i went out and retrieved it from the post at 43C, just wondering if the exposure to the heat has nuked it. It would have been posted on monday from qld and received today in vic.

Cheers n beers.

Only way to find out is to pop it (I'd make a starter with it before pitching).

Remedy: Get your yeast shipped with ice cells.

I reckon my yeast could be screwed as i racked my cider to secondary just before the heat wave. Inside my house is about 35C, I have no temp control (the next thing i'm getting is a fermenting fridge dammit, enough is enough) and my gravity has stalled in the last 48hrs. Will have to wait and see..

Good luck Mc Craggen

Gently rock the fermenter back and forth to stir up the yeast - I thought my wheat brew had stopped as it only dropped one gravity point in 24hrs, checked again 24hours later and had dropped another 6 points.

If anything for you bowie, the warmer temps should actually speed up the process - just not sure what weird by-products the yeast will produce.
