I just tried one of these for the first time a couple of days ago. The one with the blue label, 9.0% alc.
Gotta admit I thought it was pretty ordinary. Especially at $6 a stubby.
The taste kinda reminded me of my fairly non carbonated Coopers dark ale K+K.

I'll get at least 3 stubbies next time I try it and see what I think then.

cheers B)

What temperature did you serve it at?

If it was too cold it would of tasted bland and alcoholic.

Drink it at around 10-15 degrees, the aroma and flavour at this temp are amazing.

Joecast, drink them both now, then buy some more for Christmas! :D Life's too short to wait for beer.

I presume you mean Hoegaarden white ? (They make more than one beer you know!)

Serve a wit/white beer a little cooler, 8 degrees or so. Makes it a little more refreshing.

The bigger beers like Chimay Blue should be served at 10-15 though :)

well chimay blue is now my #1 choice in beers. not overly impressed with the white or red in this label (haven't tried the grand reserve)... but the blue is a delightful experience every time.

when this thread began, it didn't look like anyone had attempted a chimay blue clone, and i was just wondering if anyone had since?

i am gearing up to try one soon, so i wanted to get as much help as possible

cheers
