Just checked on craftbrewer. Are you going to be the Vic station? If so thanks for doing that. :)

If so I'll grab 1kg of Hallertau and 1kg of Nugget. :beerbang:

Ozbrewer

If your doing the Bris pickup I would take 1kg of each Hallertau, Cluster, Nugget and Tettnang. If you need a hand to break it up a bit just give us a yell.

Regards Derrick

Guys,

Graham Sanders is organising this whole thing and will post ordering details sometime this weekend on the Craftbrewer list and then one of us will post it here as well. It's probably best if you wait until the ordering process is confirmed rather than just posting your orders here as those of us who are pickup points may miss stuff if it is not done right.

Thanks,
Mycle.

Just as an added description these hops are:

These hops are are grown in Tasmania, and are packaged and sent straight
from the farm. They are this years crop, and packed as a 1 kg compressed
plug (15 cm in diameter, 10 cm high).

So don't expect the little plugs you normaly get.
Cheers
Andrew

Hmmmm...

Who's game enough to dry hop with a 1kg plug?

Warren -

There has to one of you hop lovers out there game enough to give it a go. I noticed a 100IBU thread somewhere.

Maybe a FWH addition and nothing else

A 100+ IBU Pilsner, hmmmmm........

Here are full details for rdering the hops

G'Day All

Below are the full details for ordering the 2006 hop harvest. Please keep a
copy of this e-mail, and pass it on to other digests/forums you are part of,
other brewers, club members, brew shops or micro-brewies that may be
interested.

These hops are are grown in Tasmania, and are packaged and sent straight
from the farm. They are this years crop, and packed as a 1 kg compressed
plug (15 cm in diameter, 10 cm high). The varieties and alpha ratings from
last year (as they haven't been harvested yet so cant give this years) are

Hallertau - 4.9
Tettnang - 4.2
Cluster - 5.2
Nugget - 10
Pride of Ringwood - 9
Pride Plus - 13

(a description of the hops is at the end of this e-mail).

PRICE - $13.00 a kilo. While the minimum order is 250 grams, I would prefer
the minimum order to be 500grams as it is easier for the person giving you
the hop to split and work out orders. (Individual Hop Collection Stations
may vary minimum order size.) As you can see, at this cheap price,
you can afford to bitter with the low Alpha hops for better flavours, and
you do capture easily that ellusive hop aroma and flavours. You only need to
order for a year, as this offer will be on again the same time next year.

DELIVERY - Delivery will be arround 1 May 2006. The hops will be sent
straight from the hop farm after they are dried and packed. You will not get
hops any fresher. In working out your orders, you should factor in the
delivery date, and that no other orders will be taken til next year (in
other words work out what you need for the year).

PICKUP - You will have to go to the Hop Collection Station to get your hops.
The address will be supplied once you place an order. If that is too far
away, you should make arrangements for the hops to be mailed/freighted to
you. You will be advised via the digest, and e-mail when the hops arrive.

PAYMENT - You do not need to pay for the order now. But the order MUST be
paid for before the hops are sent. Earlier the better for everyones sanity.
We will firstly confirm the order is "locked in" with the hop distributor
and farmer, and only then, you will be e-mailed to pay for your order. You
should then arrange payment with your local Hop Collection Station.

ORDERING - Orders are by e-mail only. You must supply full details,
including name, address and phone number incase we need to contact you to
confirm details. You must place your orders from
MONDAY, 13 FEBRUARY 2006 to MONDAY 20 FEBRUARY 2006.
No other orders will be taken after this period.
You have to place your order with the nearest Hop
Collection Station in your area. All initial questions should go to them.

HOP VARIETES
A brief summary for those who may not know their hops.

Hallertau - Classic german flavour hop found in most lagers, and wheat beers
you taste arround the world. Universally accepted as the best all round hop
to use.

Tettnang - suttle flavours especially suited to lighter styles. Excellent
substitute for Saaz in a Pilsners, but great in lagers, wits, weizens, and
Belgian ales. Fantastic for that wow factor.

Nugget - strong floral/fruity flavour more like an English hop. Quite
unique. Goes great in English styles, but also not bad in APA's as well. Any
beer where that more agressive flavour is desired.

Pride of Ringwood - Australian bittering hop, giving Aussie beers that
unique taste, but not a bad flavour hop as well if kept below 25 IBU.

Cluster - XXXX flavour hop. Yep, taste a XXXX and you have it (POR for
bitterness, cluster for flavour). I like the flavour, and have started using
it in triples, belgian strong ales and wits with great effect. Has that
spicy edge that goes well in these beers. A real surprise for me.

Pride Plus - its very similar to POR,
maybe a little more floral, and handles 30IBU with out the same off flavors
as POR, but all round a good Sub for POR
