Hi,

First post - hope it isn't a daft question.

I am just about to bottle a partial weizen - 14.8L. I want to carbonate to 2.8 volumes.

At 23 deg :
Beer Smith says to use 119g of Corn Sugar or 167g of DME
...Promash says to use 119g of Corn Sugar or 238g of DME

Any ideas why the discrepancy in DME, or which is more correct?

Thanks

Hey Swilks,

Perhaps the DME in the Beersith database has a lower Potential Extract.

i'd just go with dextrose for priming.

Rob.

for beer tools pro you can choose between 3 DMEs ranging from 55% to 75%.
probably the reason for the discrepency is that it doesn't show which one you're choosing in those programs??
well aware i'm the only guy on this site who seems to use beer tools though, murray

welcome to the forum.
promash says double it, that doesn't look right to me.
the DME would have to have attenuation of 50% for that to be right
[dex is approx 100%] I spose you need to know the apparent attenuation
of your DME to get it right so I'd go with the dex. Cheers
