My Brewmate has stopped working - all recipes were being calculated as being 1050 og, fg as 1050 and ABV as 0.07%

I figured something was corrupt on my machine so I cleared BM right off from the Control Panel, saved the recipe files elsewhere and downloaded / installed a fresh copy off the BM site.

On opening BM and chosing New Recipe it comes up 1050 OG and 4.91% ABV without even inserting ingredients. Rob seems to have been off the forum of late, can someone alert him?

I have BS but still like BM for my quickies where I'm pretty sure what I'm doing anyway.

copy your c:/program files/Brewmate folder to a USB drive.
then plug that into another computer, browse to the USB drive and in the Brewmate folder;Run the executable

Same thing?

I'll do that and take it round to my pissmate's place this afternoon :icon_cheers:

bridie,

click on the grain mode button that will put it back to KG not %

Hey Guys,

I just got a google alert for this!

Matho is on the money, press the "Switch Grain Mode" button.

This will switch between calculating grain by Percentage vs Weight.

If you are calculating by Percentage, the OG is adjustable hence why you are getting an ABV.

It will also remember which mode you have it in next time.

Maybe a pint to much American Malt Liquor and you accidentally pressed the wrong button :icon_drunk:

Cheers Rob.

Just checked my BM. Clicked New Recipe. OG 1.046, FG 1.012, ABV 4.52. From memory they were the figures for my last brew. Entered a grain and as soon as I clicked on weight all figures went back to default.

When I read your post Bob lobbed onto mine and it's working perfectly. I only downloaded it last week though so may be a newer version.

Rob, glad you've resurfaced :icon_drunk:

Mate I'm having intermittent problems. I've entered two recipes today. First one (a genuine recipe for a trial we are doing for BABBs) worked great until I clicked the "save" button, then it went to:

So I entered a second fantasy recipe and it has saved perfectly

Hey Bribie,

In the first screenshot your AA% of the yeast is set to 1%. Perhaps your WLP090 isn't setup properly in the Yeast Database?

Cheers Rob.

You da man, Rob :icon_cheers:

edit: GIGO

for those old enough to remember that

I had a problem with BrewMate yesterday. Didn't take a screenshot, but the issue was this:
Had ********* eff. so decided to sparge (in future will reserve some litres for a sparge or 3) with an extra 2 litres, and then extend boil to compensate.
Using the tools included with BM I got 113min. boil.
I changed this in my recipe, but (I think) BM didn't seem to like having a boil longer than 99 mins. I think the boil timer only allows 2 digits (for minutes).
I guess boils this long are unusual. In hindsight, I should have just put in 90 mins, and started the boil timer after 23 mins. Instaed I opened a new (blank) recipe and used the brewday timer instead to keep track, in conjunction with my sight tube (has markings for every 2 litres).
This worked fine, and I ended up with very close to my target voulume and SG 0.001 higher than target.

Not really a fault in the program, as such, but possibly something that could be altered (ie: boil timer > 99 mins) in future versions?

Sounds like a PEBKAC error to me. :p
