Thanks Nick. I'm pretty sure this is all it is. One bottle yesterday chilled for 5 hours gushed less. The one chilled for 12+ opened without a murmur. I have 3 that have been chilling since yesterday morning that are going to a family lunch. They will be the teller.


looks like you might have to stop being a pom, and start drinking your beers cold! :p
 
The weather in Melbourne has changed amazingly quickly. A few weeks ago drinking temp was probably about 10, straight from the shed. Now we are having 30 degree days. My pommy ways must be postponed till 2010.
 
some yeast strains can be very slow on the last few gravity points i.e fermntis so/4 and can gush even after an extended time in the fridge
 
Best of luck with your HB'ing,
it would be interesting to see if you brewed this beer exactly the same way (with the same type, but different batch of grain) if it were to also have this gushing tendency.
