After use rinse you plastic fermenter with luke warm water several times.
Using a soft cloth to wipe out remains and rinse thoroughly.
fill fermenter 1/3 cold water add 10ml pink detergent add boiling hot water.
Scrub with dishwashing brush gently everywhere. DONT scratch
Wash lid and seal screw it on and and shake fermenter :beerbang:
Dismount that tap and wash in mild detergent in 55-60 degree water.
drain the water and rinse twice at least.
wash all other plastic equipment in simialr fashion.
Fill fermenter 3/4 of new water add 1% sanitiser and put all equipment in and leave over night.

Next time, rinse with sterile water (cooled boiled water)

and remember all you NO-chillers heheheh

The quicker you pitch an active yeast the better the beer will taste
YEAH! :super:

PS. NOW TO BOTTLING ;)

Matti,

How will I clean up in the handle of my cube?

I always found dish washing brushes have a small amount of metal on the tip and handle and their use inevitably resulted in cratching. Just look at what a bably bottle brush does to babys bottles after a couple of uses.

cheers

Darren

How hot water can your plastic cube handle?
most plastics can handle up to 60 degrees without deteriorating.
add some water and soap and shake the bugger of it and leave it over night full with mild detergent. ;)

(Being a micro guy you should have plenty if ideas your self Heheheh)

I have 15 years experience if food industry but havent read a book of chemistry since year 12 LOL (not a true "foody")
It not rocket science

Oh dear matti...you like to make life hard for yourself.....all that scrubbing and rinsing out detergent

Far easier to put 1/2 cup of Nappi-San in the ferm along with everything else and fill it with hot water.Leave it for a few hrs or overnight and bingo...one very clean fermenter/cube.You only have to give it a light ruinse with hot water to

As for sanitizing, I just spray everything with a non rinse Hydrogen-peroxide solution before use....

Doh!
I said no other opinion OK?

I use Diversheen acid sanitisation solution for soaking and drip dry it is as good as and hydrogen peroxide/bleach stuff.

Bit like saying to a Home brewer that he cant drink beer... B)

I only started this thread because we hijacked the no chiller thread

"Smaken ar som baken" Swedish proverb

(Opinion of taste is like you behind, divided and everybody shit stinks) in three words.

Simple is best
go Napisan

I third the Napisan. The opening post in this thread will confuse and possibly scare off new brewers.

As long as they read the replies.
It Just shit me I didn't know how important cleaning was when i started brewing. 18 months ago
1st brew ok.
second so and so
third spoiled
All because junk in the tap thread , possible aeration of beer (another matter) and not pitching yeast asap rehydrated or active.

My last 8 brews been fine and clean tasting cause I my method have improved thousand fold.

It been said before "Brewing involves 30 % brewing and 70 % cleaning"

hence the opening comment LOL

Wow how about a simple fill with a solution of nappysan and water, then rinse with hot water

Then just use a no rinse after that

Why all the steps

A wee bit anal!?
Prolong the life of my fermenters....
Just want to ensure the garden gets a good feed and plenty of water B)

Forget all the fancy cleaners.
Soak in a solution of caustic soda (avaliable from Woolies & cheap).
The handle in those cubes will be as bright as a button.
No scrubbing required. Blast clean with a jet from the garden hose.
I've said all this before. Search and you will find it!

Regards,
Lindsay.

Fancy cleaners, caustic soda is more expensive than nappysan

I don't use any detergents. I just wash out the trub and fill with water, leave overnight and then use a sponge to wipe all visible traces from the inside of the fermenter, then rinse several times. I brew I day use a no rinse sanitiser. I Have not had a problem yet.

I'll third that but I use homebrand nappisan and high pressure cold water and never had a trace of an off flavour.

Iodine diluted as my steriliser of choice.

same, fill with bloody hot water after a couple of rinses to remove trub etc, leave overnight and rinse out, give the tap and thread a quick scrub with pure bleach (toothbrush).

Pre Brew, hit everything with Iodophor and away we go.

as with most, soak with psr or similar then before use use iodopher.

Matti

Wot's Diversheen. A google didn't bring anything up.

cheers - PM

PS - My vote: Aldi nappy san for cleaning and Grumpy one shot to sanitise plus an occasional soak in bleach solution.

PPS - Aldi are selling a steam cleaner at the moment for anyone who wants to go the steam route.

Foodgrade sanitiser for exposed areas in diary, Need rinse but mighty effective.
Don't recall technical name But Diversheen NO5 from diversy lever.
Stck with napisan or bleach and iodophor as its easiear to use and get hold of
