I am going to have xmas away from home this year. Has anyone had any experince when it comes to using a miracle box with one of their homebrewed kegged beers? I have used the box in the past on comercial beers but not with my own kegged beers. The way I currently gas up kegs is chilling it first then using my own technique, gas it up. The keg is kept in the fridge until MT. The difference with a miracle box (as some will know) is that the beer is chilled via the internal plate and the keg just sits out in the open and stays warm. Will it matter if I still use my technique for gassing and leave it out of the fridge once I have it right?

Cheers BYB

Set your carbonation so that it pours good from the fridge with the same amount of line in the miracle box. If the miracle box cools the warm beer down to the same temperature, it will theoretically be fine :)

I neglected to say that my current home set up is poured through an Andale font. It would not be practicle to have that much hose bundled up in the box. Around 3-4 mtrs.

Hi BYB , Try a few searches for party kegs , ect ect. Another option is a wheely bin with ice and gas bottle all set up to go ..

I run my kegs through a miracle box a bit. Same deal, gassed up in the fridge beforehand. I find they pour slowly and I need more Kpa, but that has more to do with the longer length of 5mm ss tubing in the miracle box than what I run in the fridge. Then again each beer is different, just a matter of finding the balance.

Here is more than 4 meters of beer line

Something else to consider would be a tall round Keep-Cold cooler or similar, in which you can sit the keg. That way ambient temp swings don't really effect it. You can probably pick one up for the price of a chiller plate anyway...

If you don't have room in the cooler/esky for the line, think about a flow restrictor; 4m becomes 40cm
