Has anyone out there brewed a fruit beer using apricot nectar.
If so, how did it turn out?
I figure it would be really easy to add to secondary.
Search function turned up doughnuts...
Cheers,
Tried quinces once and at first the beer wasn't to bad, sorry to say after three weeks in the keg it was undrinkable. My first and only try at fruit beer a total disaster. :icon_drool2:
I used a can of Apricot nectar from Coles in a Bitter and honestly, it did not make any difference besides make it a bit cloudy. If I was to do it again I would use 2 cans for the 20L batch, but the beer tastes good non-the-less
There can be unforseen obstacles with fruit beers...i have only tried a cherry ale and it turned out ok, the only advice i would offer is to use real fruit and not nectar or anything proccessed, the bacteria and yeasts on fruit are usually beer friendly anyway, so there is no problem with infections, just wash them thoroughly in warm water first and dont boil the fruit whatever you do! give it a go and tell us how it works oh yeah, one last peice of advice - its better to use too much fruit then not enough, the flavour mellows with age anyway..good luck!
