Put together a simple wort heater using some refrigeration hardware.

The heat band is a 50 watt 240 volt crankcase heater used to maintain oil sump temperature on hermetic refrigeration compressors.
Control temperature of the wort is maintained at 18'C by a dixell programable logic controller setup for heating application. The sensor probe for the controller is located inside the fermenter via a sealed hole in the lid.

Ale brewing in winter ready fo summer. :D

I get a kick out of you guys trying to HEAT your wort :) Need more/bigger fermentation fridges here.

not everyone lives on the stinking hot humid gold coast ;)

If it's too cold for lagers, it's definitely too cold for people! :)

The last time I saw frost up here was when I opened the freezer door.
Could not do a lager here without running up a huge electricity bill trying to get cool enough. :D
