So I've just got my starter of an english ale up to a good size ~2.8l ready to pitch tomorrow. Jumped up from 600ml this morning. Its creusening up OK and I see something floating on top. Looks like an ant has crawled past the foil cap. Little bugger.
I think I have an otherwise health looking yeast pitch
Either way I'm about to try and get if out.

Yeah figure odds are with the English yeast.

Just remember to factor in ant consumption in your yeast calculation :).
As far as calculations go, I reckon you're just being a bit pedANTic.. :p

BTW, this has been done before. It becomes a bit ANTagonistic when folks wANT to ask such questions..... ;)

Your post really bugged me.

+1 +1 +1 +1 and +1 to the previous respondents. I mean, let's look at this situation soberly. How much yeast, realistically, do you think one ant can eat & drink?

Sounds like a load of bull, all these antiquated responses.
You're all a bunch of apocrits.

The beer may taste somewhat like licking a formica table.

No good. You're going to end up with an insected brew.

Delicious formic acid....
