Where is the best and the most cost effective place to get my hands on 750ml talles, empty of coarse.I"m really getting into this now and want to increase my output(just got a 3rd fermenter)seems the only thing holding me back is bottles.I have been bying those Coopers plastic ones but its getting a bit costley.Any ideas anyone, just missed a bloke today in the Weekend shopper,he was getting rid of 20 doz for $100.

keep an eye out here in the trade section and on ebay and in the paper, can often pick em up cheap. ebay is a good place too. I was in your position a couple years ago and very quickly built up a collection of a few hundred that have never all been in use at once. ie, never run out of bottles. I guess I keg as well..but still... can never have too many bottles haha.

Couldn't resist that :p but ALDI 99c two litre PETs are good option for session quaffing beers .. bottle up a brew for twelve bucks. Many UK home brewers use these 'pop' bottles as they call them because glass bottles are very scarce in the UK where fourpack cans are the default, and the method serves them well.

Bribie...please tell they're all full of beer....please........In fact....don't tell me....just let me close my eyes and dream!

 What'd you do with all the cola? Have you been able to fall asleep yet? :p

That wasn't an oil spill in the brisbane river area. that was bribe emptying his cola !

Homebrand sparkling water is 89c a bottle and these are 1.5L so easy to to just double up the priming sugar from a 750ml bottle if not bulk priming.

Less chance of developing diabetes also!

Champagne bottles are good also. Just need new plastic reusable corks and cages. Cages can be reused as well. They normally break after 3 goes.

Errm there shouldnt be any reason to buy them!

Wait until bin night. Then go for a walk around your block armed with a flashlight, and a few strong shopping bags and raid peoples recycling bins!

I collected around 50 bottles in 15 minutes the last time I went. Unit blocks are especially good because their bins tend to be all in the one area.

Then come home, fill your bath tub with water and drown all of your bottles. The next day the labels and the glue should just slide off with a sponge.

You could ask around at your work and see if any one drinks long necks and just ask them to save them for you. provide them with a milk crate to put them in and then there is less hassle for them. They might be twist tops but they'll be better than plastic.

There's nothing wrong with plastic, it's only if you plan to cellar your beer for more than 12 months that it starts to affect the quality / taste. Even then it's negligible from what ive been told.

When that shot was taken they were nearly all full of beer. That was before my latest liver transplant.

Actually I poured it down the laundry sink. I bought the cola in lots of six cartons at ALDI and the look on the guy's face when he said "you must like that stuff" and I replied "nah I actually pour it down the sink".

And it wasn't the oil spill, it was the fish kill in Moreton Bay last year

Went for a drive around the local parks and backs of shopping centres today whilst driving around for work and picked up a nice dozen.

Why don`t you just buy them out of Weekend Shopper?
$3-$5 a dozen usually packed in crates and cleaned.

stagga.

You can buy a larger bell fitment for the super-automatica bench cappers, along with larger diameter caps to use with champagne (ooh, sorry, "Australian Sparkling") bottles.

They work a treat, look great, and it's pretty much impossible to get a bottle bomb, as they're thicker glass and designed to hold up under high internal pressure.

Most LHBS will have them, or wine brew specialists.

Yes I saw a few of them at the last Brisbane Club meeting with exotic Belgians in them. Neat looking system.

i bought mine from daves hb.
was about $14 for the triage bell and $7 for 75 caps.
nicko

Many years back I bought most of mine quite cheaply from the Brisbane Bottle Exchange. I can only assume they still sell them.
