I recently found 3 longnecks of beer that i brewed 10 years ago, the bottles are still in good condition and have been stored in a box under the house where it's dry and cool. So of course i'm thinking about drinking these old beers, anyone else had any really matured beers before? What's the chance of these beer still being OK?

what sort of beers are they?

personally i would give em a bash :chug:

Pour it into a glass and smell it.

If it smells ok, swish and spit it.

If it tastes ok, drink it I reckon :chug:

PZ.

One is a Coopers Real Ale K&K and the other two are Coppers Lager Kit & 2kg. (what can i say i was 19 and didn't know any better). They were pretty average in their day, so maybe they've just had enough time to improve.

One is in the fridge now so i'll see how it goes hey.

When we bought our first house, we found a whole batch of brew under it.
We knew the people we bought it from, and determined it was 32 years old.
A number had rusted caps, but a few bottles were intact.
Chilled a couple down and opened one. Still carbonated, and it appeared to be a dark ale.
A mate and I had a couple of mouthfuls each, and whilst not an award winning beer, it was just palletable. We tipped it though and used the bottles :p

Worth a crack.

Beers,
Doc

How'd they go Travalater ??

I've got a few bottles that are about 6 years old. Can't say that my Coopers Stout or Coopers Lager has really improved with age. Had a swish and spit, tipped it and moved on.

Still nice nostalgic trip back to the heady days of K&K with no boil... ;)

I have a couple bottles of a winter warmer that I made back in Nov 1999 -- I sample one every couple years. I'll probably pop one open on New Years Eve and then save the last one for next year or beyond. It's a nice beer, probably not the greatest I've ever had, but nice. I also have a couple raspberry ales from 2002 along with some maple brown ales from around the same time. Some beers age better than others -- all of these are still good.

I've tried commercial beers over 25 years old that were amazing.

I'd definately give it a go, though don't expect much from it. They're probably oxidised by now, but it's all fun :)

I had a bottle of Coopers Draught home brew that was given to me. It was stored in my beer fridge for approx 6 years. We opened it for a taste, it tasted good and fully carbonated. I say give it a go, it will probably be fine,
Cheers 15BL
