Details on this thread that seems to have got buried somehow.

    Dogs go Whacko

Well, they certainly do in my experience. I don't own a dog but here are two absolutely genuine cases: 1. About six years ago my mate in Sydney was living in a share house / boarding house situation in Epping with the ground floor of a really big 1930s mansion occupied by a Chinese family who...

    Beersmith inventory tools

Calling Beersmith users: I owned Beersmith in the past, until I discovered Brewmate so I let it lapse. Didn't get too far into it, but one of its features that attracts me is the inventory management. I know it's there but never got that far. I've had a look on the site and it goes into adding...

New 19L cornies: KK vs Mangrove Jack's ?

Can't find anything recent so starting new thread. I'm buying a brand new cornie style keg, dedicated to pressure fermenting lagers. Reviews on the MJ offering or the KK one which seems to be the standard offering on most of the retailers' sites? Is it my imagination or is the welding on...

    Village Idiots

Is Tamworth getting theirs back? Is Ipswich getting a new one, with their old one headed for the Palen Creek Corrections Farm? Tonight's the night.

Commercial processes to make 10 year old whisky in weeks?

This is an off topic general interest article, published in The Conversation and relates strictly to whisky made in licenced commercial distilleries. https://theconversation.com/can-you-make-a-10-year-malt-whisky-in-weeks-the-chemistry-says-yes-86827 It does not relate to or promote the home...

    Maxi-BIAB revisited

My 40L Crown Urn has been playing up, but fortunately I also have a 20L Crown urn that I bought second hand off Gumtree a couple of years ago. Since I started all grain about 9 years ago I have always done full volume BIAB in a 40L urn and my efficiency has come out around 74% I've needed to...

    Crown Urn thermo bypass

Does anyone have a link to the earlier Crown Urn re-wiring threads? I've got an exposed element Crownie that's now 7 years old and has recently been cutting out about half way through the boil. Had a similar problem with my original Birko and a bypass worked fine, just remembering to always have...

Show me your Mini Mill setup

Rather than clutter the bulk buy thread, I'd love to see members' solutions to mounting their Mill Master mini mill - bench, cabinet, disguised as a 1950s Jukebox whatever. Keen to get some ideas about dimensions, materials and tools.

    Blowoff Suck Back

No, the title of this thread didn't accidentally miss out "babes" or anything so settle down chaps. With my SS Brewbucket I'd been using an old fashioned two piece airlock, but since San Diego Super Yeast came back I've been doing the following "blowoff" arrangement, as a precaution (not...

Does Anyone Deal with The Beer Store?

The Beer Store in Melbourne has a few items I'm interested in. I've never dealt with them before and notice that a lot of their lines seem to be out of stock, but as they deal mostly in imports that's probably not too much of a worry. Anyone shopped there? Average freight on a box?

Australian Bitter Ale: BJCP 6.1 [AABC]

I'm just rebooting this topic as the old thread had got a bit cluttered, and in any case was started before the release of Bronzed Brews by Peter Symons and of course the current availability of Whitelabs WLP059 Melbourne Ale. So this year, 2017, is the first year that a genuine attempt at an...

    FS Stout Tap with handle

I've gone all Intertap. The stout tap is a holdover from when I had a separate Nitro cylinder. Looks impressive on the font tower, but has actually had little use over the last couple of years. So it's punching well below its weight at the moment and I'd like to see it going to a nitro...

Brewdog looking to set up here, Brisbane or Newcastle

Ripper http://www.beerandbrewer.com/brewdog-recruits-top-dog-australia/ I wonder if they are aware of the virtually brand new Bluetongue brewery south of Newcastle that CUB shut down? I just told em.

    Biofine

I didn't know that Biofine existed until last week so I bought a bottle. Gave it a whirl, added a capful (probably 6ml or so) when I kegged a lager last night. The beer was still a bit hazy, but here's after 20 hours. Second pull out of keg, so we are looking at the very bottom horizons of the...

Joe White Vienna in the real world?

In relation to "Bronzed Brews" JW make a Vienna malt. I doubt very much if they generously do a batch for us home brewers (who probably don't even get through a pallet of the stuff), as some sort of welfare program for amateurs to thank us for our interest in the craft. Now, we have seen in...

    Photobucket Ransomware

If you used Photobucket to store your photos and put up images on this and other forums by using an IMG tag, then your photos will disappear as they no longer allow third party hosting unless you pay through the nose. As a Photobucket user you will have received this ransom ($400 per year)...

What's the shaky stuff in the Cask Widge?

I just took delivery of two Cask Widges and gas dip tubes. On shaking the end that sits in the beer, it sounds like a Maraca (Cue Dean Martin). I assume that whatever it is, it's in the sealed off floater part of the device, ballast maybe, and not likely to come in contact with the beer?
