Electronics Issue Burnt Looking Resistor Whats It Mean

Maheel, That looks pretty ordinary. I'd be swapping that out and investigating the cause. Resistors normally don't just 'wear out'. There will be a certain percentage that fail like any other component, but it is likely that something else might be drawing a bit too much current causing that...

    Live Australian Export Cattle

As mentioned, perhaps the way forward is not to ban exports but rather to tackle them at their own game. Indonesia is all but Muslim, and they claim to be killing these cattle using methods that are Halal. Why then doesnt the local Imam (or whoever their local high ranking religious dude is)...

    What Are You Brewing III

Brewed this one today. Wasn't the smoothest of brew days, owing to a quick departure to the train station mid mash and end of boil for the missus. Galaxy AIPA (American IPA) Original Gravity (OG): 1.065 (P): 15.9 Colour (SRM): 13.2 (EBC): 26.0 Bitterness (IBU): 58.6...

    Dry Versus Ferment Hopping

I thought I was nerdy. With my knowledge of the english language poor at the best of times, and my knowledge of scripts even less, I understood the last few posts (and found them funny as f@ck) far more than anything Speedie has ever, or will ever post on this board. Speedie = F@cktard. Mods...

    Really Long Mash

Even if there was some conversion, there is heaps of lacto present in malted grain. 24hrs worth of warm sodden grain is going to be rather pungent and probably wouldn't make very good beer to say the least. Try it and let us know. Leary

    Dollar Reaches Parity...

I have to agree with manticle here, very much how I operate. I'll buy larger lots of hops from the US that I use regulalrly, however any varieties of hops that ive not used before i'll buy from an AU retailer. I've also used nikobrew a couple of times and found the service and hops excellent...

    40l Keg Crash Carbonation

Hey all, Now I don't start topics often as there is almost always a topic already, and this is not the usual "how do i carb my keg" question, but I have a 40 corny keg to gas and I need to crash carb it. Dont ask why, I just do ;) My usual method is either to hook up to serving pressure and...

    Siphoning

Errrm, all i used to do was: 1. Get a long bit of hose, 2. Submerge it fully making sure that all but the bit you are holding on to is filled with hot wort, 3. Place thumb over the end blocking the air, 4. Lift hose out of pot, ensuring the end you are not holding onto is still in the pot, and...

    Infected Test Tubes

Not yet, I assumed they were infected as while they didn't smell bad, they didn't smell like any other culture, and the growth on top looks furry and feels leathery. I didn't really want to go to the effort of pitching them in to a starter. Spose I can though, no harm done either way. Leary

    Infected Test Tubes

AAARGH!!! A while ago I split up 5 smack packs. I went to grab a test tube today to step up for a Sam Adams Bostom Lager and found this. This infection has buggered up 10% of my yeasts!! Including 2565, 2124, 1968 and 1084. I have lost all of my 2124, but strangely only a few each of the other...
