i would say that you probably want to get the temp up a bit higher, if its getting down to 4 deg the yeast is probably napping{ie, hasnt finished fermenting yet]. Ale yeast needs (i think) above 15 degrees to fire. Unless someone says im wrong ;)

depends on where in tassie mate, alot of the bottleshops in Hobart have it. Just bought a 6 pack from the 9/11 on Sandy Bay Rd, also know that Coolwine in the city stock it. And if you havent been to Coolwine yet... Well. I wont spoil the suprise!!

i just lifted my fermenter onto a higher shelf to prepare for bottling tommorow, and saw basically the same picture, except a few more spots. Shat my pants, and logged on here, glad to see (hopefully) that its just some yeast. Anyone else had this sort of thing, and how did the beer turn out...

sort of on topic, but... As a new brewer, what does a clean fermenter smell like?? I have put down a few brews, and always take care with extra cleaning and over sanitising and stuff, but you can smell that beer has been brewed in it before, not matter how much i clean...
