is there anywhere in adelaide?
The old Harvest liquour (now Cellarbrations) on Greenhill Rd Glenside used to 2 to 3 months ago, Haven't been back since - also good general range of Pommy and European beers.

Marion Cellars (also used to be a Harvest) in Marion Shopping centre (DJs and Myer end) probably have it. Still marketting themselves as a specialist beer shop with over 100+ in stock.

I'm getting old - but I think I saw it and another couple of Youngs in Booze Bros at the Royal Oak in O'Connell St North Adelaide a couple of weeks back. I was in their for something else and tend to take special notice of the things I haven't had yet. Again, pretty good range - and the guy behind the counter seemed to know a bit too. They were trying to get yankee brews like SNPA in.

THe Cellarbrations in Glenside should be first port of call - maybe phone the others. It is definitely around in the City of Churches though.

If they manage to get any yankee brews in apart from Millers/Bud/Coors/SA Boston Lager, can you let me know their contact details?

I'll get Lief and Demetri at the IBS in Perth to contact them and find out who the distributor is. Currently no-one in Australia imports any US microbrewed beer :(

They'd like to do it but finding it pretty near impossible at the moment. We can hope.

Rochefort 10 is an amazing beer!

Love the spicyness from the yeast!

Jovial Monk

I got Y.D.C.S at the balmain village bottle shop( behind the flower cart on the main road). I'm pretty sure that I PMed those who were interested at the time. He also had Timothy Taylor Landlord Ale and Fullers ESB, etc

$8-$12 a pop was a bit rich to stock up though

just wondering, but anyone know what company does the importing of beer from the us? i keep seeing budweiser and mgd in bottleshops and it makes me cringe. why waste the frieght on that crap when there are so many great beers being made there now? (ok, we all know its the money but know what i mean).
i wouldnt mind sending them an e-mail with a few suggestions and at least hear their side of the story before i condemn them to beer hell.

Not sure who the importer for bud is, but it'll be someone major :)

CUB is the importer for MGD. I'm pretty sure its a small-medium importer that brings in Samuel Adams Boston Lager. They'd be the people to talk to about bringing in US beers.

I think Cooper's have taken over the distribution of Bud in Oz.

Shocking confession time, I sometimes don't mind a Bud. Has to be served ice crackingly cold on a scorcher of a day, and, as long as you don't confuse it too much with beer, it can be very refreshing. Sorry, confession finished

I got some old pecker last week - just have to remember where ;) , I think it might have been the grog section in DJ's food section.
I get around for a guy with no wheels.

True confession time 2.

I once tried to make a Bud copy by brewing a Coopers Canadian Blonde Kit with 500g LDME and 1kg liquid rice malt extract (from a health food shop). It was a bloody nice drop. Especially .... served ice crackingly cold on a scorcher of a day, and, as long as you didn't confuse it too much with beer! :D

If you go to www.beerking.com.au you can buy some fairly difficult to get imported beers by the case. They have the old peculier , didn't see the YDCS there tho....

CUB have a branch called Carlton Special Beverages.....they bring in Hoegaarden in a 25lt keg

I recently made a "Kitchen Sink Coopers Kit Triple Chocolate Stout Partial Mash".

I used 200g of dark cooking choc boiled for the whole 60 mins. I also added Choc Malt and 2 tablespoons of Cadbury Coco. Still not nearly chocolatey enough for my liking :) The partial mash included ale malt, wheat malt, choc malt, caramunich and munich.

I'd use the whole 300g block if I was to attempt such a monstrosity again. That said, tho, it really is quite a nice beer.
