Can anybody give an equiv yeast in the Wyeast range to whitelab WLP833?

Its for an oktoberfest.

but it says there is no equiv to WLP833 - im thinking maybe Wyeast 2206 (Bavarian Lager yeast) is the go.

or alternativly has anyone got a spare slant of WLP833 in melb?

2487 is seasonal Hella-Bock. It's the Ayinger brewery yeast.

I'd go for the proculture one if you can't find the Wyeast.

Great yeast that one. I have an Okto just past Diacetyl rest stage and it tastes damned good, it's not going to need much lagering at all.

I've used both WY2206 and WL833 in a dunkel and they are similar.

Both very malty, the 833 seems a little cleaner and its going down very well!

I've seen this list before. It seems to me whoever put it together didn't put a lot of effort into it. I wouldn't put too much faith in the comparisons.

For starters, it labels Wy1098, 1332 and 1187 as being the same as WLP005. Anybody who's used Ringwood and WLP005 will know they are nothing like each other. Ringwood to me is a a carbon copy of WLP023 (Burton Ale) - they give the exact same character. The list also compares WLP025 (Southwold Ale) to Wy1335 (British Ale II). After WLP discontinued Southwold I tried 1335 instead and although its a nice yeast its not the same as Southwold.
