Anyone in the vicinity of Newcastle/hunter keen to go in on a used barrel?
From memory they run about $100 for a 200 odd litre used red barrel.
I was thinking of a shiraz barrel to get some spice into a big stout, happy to take recommendations on beer/wine barrel/length of ageing etc. I can store under my house for as long as is required, it is a fairly steady temp throughout the year.
We could brew the same beer and then ferment at my place, I have sufficient fermenting space for 220 litres. Once fermented rack to the barrel and let the good times roll.
