  • The impermanence of a well blended keg. Serendipitous yet melancholic.

Melancholic? Would that be because you would have bugger all chance in recreating again?

Exactamundo, just blew and it was a blend of a Hazelnut RIS, riwaka pale and SWPA clone... Epic American brown ale

ex-missus smashed my Erdinger World Cup fussball glass. 1 part ignorance/ 1 part clumsiness and 2 parts 'don't give a rat's". Was replaced by caring lhbs owner.

The important question is did it pay for itself?
    Judanero
    Judanero
It lasted 4 years, and countless kegs.. I haven't run the numbers yet but it was a good return on investment ;)
Ever primed with vanilla or cinnamon sugar? Did it leave any flavour?
    Judanero
    Judanero
Good to know! I can't seem to find any info on either with my google-fu skills.

I would say the vodka + cinnamon sticks, with dextrose to prime, would be a much better method. Same with vanilla. Chunks in beer are not good IMO.

I intend on using the extraction (vodka) but was thinking I could get an extra hit of flavour at bottling.. Might be too risky though by the sound of it.
Does anyone have frozen pacman yeast? I really should have done it the last time I could get hold of it.

I found San Diego Superyeast to be very similar, still available from Peakhurst Brew Shop (ESB)

U have better friends than me. I usually get the benefit of them using my ute and then forgetting to fill it up with petrol.
So it turns out with a little extended time in the keg, Sorachi ace does work in an IPA

    Single hopped?
    Judanero
    Judanero
Not single hopped Yob, but after 10 days in the keg it still overpowered the Galaxy and Amarillo additions. After 21 days in the keg though...nice.
Sorachi Ace in an IPA... never again.

Did you single hop it? What is the issue?

You don't like dill in your beer?
    Judanero
    Judanero
Not single hop, and only added 10g @ 20 mins in a 22L batch.. but completely overpowered (to my palate) the 25g of Galaxy and 40g Amarillo @ 10 mins.
Seems my local Woolies are no longer stocking HB stuff, picked up 6 x Coopers BE #2 @ $3.20 each!
    First attempt at sourdough...disaster.

    over/under proofed?
    Judanero
    Judanero
Under proofed and too much salt. Going to continue researching and try again during uni break

I go with a ~2% salt to total flour ratio. So 10g salt to 500g total flour.
