I tape mine to the fermenter lid...might try it with some insulation next time
 
Same as Father Jack. Just hang in the air near the top of the fridge, set 2 to 3 degrees higher than my desired ferment temp. On an excellent thread a year or so ago, someone did a very detailed experiment with graphs etc, and found that this method produced the most consistent ferment temp in the wort/beer. The only downside is that the fridge cycles more often.

I assume you mean colder by saying higher, I would also set the probe roughly around the height of half way up the fermenter, cold air falls, so a temp reading at the top of the fridge could be a few degrees different to the bottom.

The only downside is that the fridge cycles more often.

you can set the delay up to 9 mins on the mashmaster temp controller, meaning it cannot turn on again for at least 9 minutes after it has last turned off.
