Can anyone tell me what this plastic thing is for?? Came with the standard fermentor kit i bought the other day.

I cant figure it out??

It fits in the back of your plastic tap, facing upward, to keep the trub from flowing directly into the outlet. It should just slot in there.

Sediment reducer. goes in the back of the tap before screwing it in.

You dont have to use it. If you leave it out, just dont open the tap as much when racking the beer off.

my last brew survived with out it so i will send it to the tip
 
I bottle. I removed it for a few brews but you know what, I put the fucker back in cause I find it helps squeezing those last few stubbies out with less sediment when tilting the drum.
 
Could be handy if you need to do an emergency trachaeotomy on somebody on the train.
