Actually, I am serious. It is great to hear (read) a different perspective on the same problems. An AHB get together would also be great. Would allow the people here to shake hands meet the face and talk (hopefully) without animosity.
Anyhow, cheers Warren

My other greatest opponent this year was probably Ross. Keep up the good work and asking, doubting, questioning for a quest for better beer.

Jesus it must be christmas time

guys and girls please enjoy

Chuck in a handful of dark grains and call it Black Cocky Ale. That way you'll never really ~know~ if the colour came from the grains or the critters.

I would have tasted the water. If by some chance a coupla big cockies had been heated for an hour or so and "fouled" the water I would have had no choice but to start again.
Cockroaches do tend to have a certain smell. If I couldn't taste it in the water I doubt I would be able to taste it in a beer.
cheers

How could you taste a smell in the water??? Then again how could you recognise the smell and then recognize the taste without having any prior experience of said smell or taste???

Darren have you been eating cockroaches?

Merc,
I guess having pet lizards over the years has allowed me to experience the smell of cockroaches (lizard food). MOst cockroaches (and beetles) have a very distict smell. Catch a live one and then smell your fingers then you will understand.
cheers
Darren

I am pleased you brewed with it Merc.... the brew will be fine, and it gives you a good story to tell people as they are enjoying sampling your beers....
particularly those celebrity types ;)

Whenever I kill cockies with my bare hands I'm pretty keen to wash my hands as quick as possible and haven't had the urge to smell them....

Cockroach sniffing???? It could catch on?

Wife: Honey what are you doing?
Husband: um, just sniffing this cockroach sweetheart.
Wife: thats nice, are you planning on brewing today!

oh my wife just informed me that cockroaches do indeed have a particular (bad) smell when squashed!

Don't even need to kill them. They shoot a a bad scent/taste to avoid predators. If you ever smelled a millipede, cockroach is just as bad. I am surprised that brad McM hasn't piped in on the flavour of roach 8)
