I am in the process of making a hlt from a 50l keg, I've cut the lid out and drilled my holes for the element, ball valve and sight gage now I need to give it a good clean before assembling. Just wanted to know what is the best stuff to clean stainless with? Preferably something I can get from the supermarket.

Cleaning ? Supermarket ?
Nappy San ...no smell variety
Rinse well after a good soak
Good luck on your maybe mmm vogage

Best stuff for initial clean is oxalic acid (bar keepers friend is one source). This will repassivate the stainless and repair any rust from your cuts. Then to maintain it use sodium percarbonate (PBW is best).
